Snorkeling for two hours yesterday took it out of me. I am moving like a sloth waiting for my brain to come online. With my last day here at Koh Lanta, I decided to go back to Bamboo Beach. I’ve seen what the whole islands has to offer, so I’m ok going back to a known place. I stopped by Nui Beach first, but it had too much trash for me to stay.
My brain is so foggy I forgot to apply sunscreen on my face and I forgot to bring sunscreen with me altogether. Somehow after 34 straight days applying sunscreen and taking it everywhere I go, I forgot it and haven’t produced enough melanin to not get burnt. Shiza!
From the beach I can see Koh Haa and Koh Rok. I saw them days prior but didn’t realize those were the islands. I really enjoyed snorkeling yesterday.
There aren’t too many people out here today. I met Matus and Tomas from Slovakia. They are both into boxing. I talked with Matus for a while before they left to see the other side of the island.
I stayed a bit longer then went to the sunset cliffside restaurant for a late lunch and good views of one of the beaches. Even in the shade I could feel my skin radiating heat. I ate a nice lunch with a coconut then went back for a shower. On the way I stopped at a 7-Eleven for an ice cream bar. 30 baht. Good thing I didn’t find those sooner or I’d have eaten one every day!
I rested for a bit then went out to watch the sunset from Koh Lanta one last time. It was a good one. Clouds whisked upwards like they were painted with a brush. Best I’ve seen yet.
I met up with Matus for dinner. We chatted about adventures in Thailand, ice baths, and the separation of Czechoslovakia. I commented how interesting it would be to live through transitioning from one country to two, and he replied “you will find out.” 😂 Probably. We’ll see.
